Okay, we’re pretty sure we’ve decided what we’re showing next Tuesday. Unless we change our minds. But we’re not going to tell you what it is, because we’re evil. You’re just going to have to turn up and hope.

Question:

Those of you who stayed to the end last night will be aware that we reached the end of Beating Angel, and also that we asked you to suggest things to replace it with. Please, please, do so using the comments feature below or by emailing marcus@basingstokeanimesociety.com the sooner you respond the more likely you are to get what you want.

If you don’t have any specific suggestions, feel free to make vague generalised suggestions (eg. Something wierd and funny) as this is almost as helpful.

After much debating and some serious thought we have concluded that the following running order will be used for the Anime Society on 19th September:

7:00 Paradise Kiss
7:50 Black Cat
8:40 School Rumble
9:30 Beating Angel/Club-to-Death Angel

This week we will show episodes 1 and 2 of each series and continue with 3 and 4 next week.

We would be interested to hear opinions here and in person about how to select replacement shows for these when they regrettably and inevitably end (Far too soon in some cases).

Between each series there will be 3-5 minutes of AMVs, please use this time to buy drinks if you don’t want to miss anything. Our continuation relies on the goodwill of the landlord, which relies on you buying drinks.

Also can you please ensure that your mobile phones are off or silent.

The votes are tallied, and the answers are fairly clear. These are the series we’re going to be showing from next Tuesday:

School Rumble
Club-to-Death Angel Dokuro-chan

Since we expect at least a few of the audience will have missed the first night (or missed part of it, or in some cases been too freaked out to concentrate on plot) we’ll be showing these starting with the first episode. We haven’t yet finalized the running order - keep your eyes peeled for a post on Monday about that.

Technical foibles allowing, we’ll be starting at 7:00 sharp next tuesday. See you there!

There was a good turn out for our opening event, and as far as I could tell a good time was had by all. We will continue to hold these events Every Tuesday until the landlord tells us to stop or people stop turning up.

A vote took place to determine two from each section to be shown in full. The results will be posted sometime on Friday and a running order will be posted on Monday.

With one day left until the first event, it is probably time to post the final reminder.

We will begin at 7 o’clock on Tuesday 12 September, feel free to arrive early and get a good seat. It is worth noting that The Castle is not currently serving meals in the evening although this may change in the future.

The eight series to be shown at this event will not be announced here prior to the event. However the list will be published here some time on Wednesday to encourage discussion. Four of the series will be continued over the course of following events, based on the votes of those in attendance.

There are just seven days left before the first meeting of Basingstoke Anime Society.

The meeting will comence at 7pm on Tuesday 12th September. All are welcome whether you’re an obsesive otaku, a casual fan or just being dragged along by a friend who says “Give it a go, it’ll be fun”.

During the evening a vote will be held to decide which series will be shown at future meetings.
