On Tuesday those of you who were there know that we suffered from technical difficulties. We are currently working on a better backup plan to deal with this should it happen again, so hopefully we will be back to normal from now on.
Also the last and final St Luminous Mission High School was shown and everyone now understands exactly what it was about. From 3rd April this will be replaced by Love Pheromone. A magical girl show with a twist (or possibly just a twisted magical girl show)
This was emailed out to all our members on Thursday 7 December.
We promise not to send boring email newsletters out too often, but we thought people would appreciate knowing when our christmas break will be (this is also available on our calendar).
- This year’s last meeting will be on Tuesday 19th December
- Next year’s first meeting will be on Tuesday 9th January
We’re thinking of having the pub provide us with some food on the 19th. It would be a general buffet, costing about £7.50 a head. We’ll need definite numbers and money by next week, so if you’d like some food then come along on tuesday.
This week we showed the final episode of Black Cat, so from next Tuesday (12th December) we’re going to be starting Soul Link. We’ll also reach the end of the first season of School Rumble soon, but don’t worry - we’ve got the second season lined up for next year.
We’ll be having series ending early in the new year, and we welcome people’s opinions as to what to replace them with. So go to our forum and join the discussions.
Discuss the email in this thread on our forums.
You may have noticed this site looks a bit different now (if it looks all screwed up, try hitting F5 to refresh). That’s right: you asked for it, and here it is. We are pleased to announce that the Basingstoke Anime Society now has a forum!
There are sections there for discussing and voting on the series we’re watching, as well as just chatting about stuff like manga, films, games and sci-fi. And for anybody who doesn’t herald from the far east, we have a glossary to help explain some of these weird Japanese words. Even better, your existing usernames and passwords from this news part are shared with the forum, so you don’t need to register again - it’ll just work.
And as icing, we’ve also added a Calendar you can browse here, or subscribe to in most programs.
It’s been mentioned before, but it bears repeating that we’ll be starting to show the first episodes of Scrapped Princess this week. Newcomers are welcome to come and enjoy this series from the beginning.
Okay, we’re pretty sure we’ve decided what we’re showing next Tuesday. Unless we change our minds. But we’re not going to tell you what it is, because we’re evil. You’re just going to have to turn up and hope.
Question:
If the pub served food, how many of you would eat there each week? It wouldn’t be very late, only ’til about 7.30 Use the comments to this post to tell us what you think. If the response is positive enough, I’ll talk to Greg (the landlord) about getting it to happen the following week.
There are just seven days left before the first meeting of Basingstoke Anime Society.
The meeting will comence at 7pm on Tuesday 12th September. All are welcome whether you’re an obsesive otaku, a casual fan or just being dragged along by a friend who says “Give it a go, it’ll be fun”.
During the evening a vote will be held to decide which series will be shown at future meetings.
I’ve uploaded a copy of the leaflet which we’re going to be distributing around Basingstoke: grab it here (120kb). There’s also a professional print-level version available in TIFF format (CMYK, 600dpi A5), but it’s a pretty big file so if you need it send me an email.
If anybody can think of a good place where this leaflet should be, let me know. Everyone’s welcome.
Welcome to the new Basingstoke Anime Society. Don’t worry, we’ll have times, dates and a proper theme before you know it.
If you’re wondering where the society will be, take a look at the Maps and Directions page.
