Leaflet

Filed under: Chat — Marcus Downing @ 1:14 am

I’ve uploaded a copy of the leaflet which we’re going to be distributing around Basingstoke: grab it here (120kb). There’s also a professional print-level version available in TIFF format (CMYK, 600dpi A5), but it’s a pretty big file so if you need it send me an email.

If anybody can think of a good place where this leaflet should be, let me know. Everyone’s welcome.

  2. Leaflets are in HMV, Ottakar’s, Waterstones, The Castle and Tony & Guy (they were happy to have them, i didn’t complain). I’m planning to put them up on various boards in BCOT when i start my japanese course there in a few weeks, and i’m in contact with somebody at QMC about doing the same there.

Virgin said no, as did Wagamama.

  3. try Area 51, natural world, perfect sense, the library, i’m sure there is place where you can put
leaflets near the help desk in town, tesco in chineham have got a place for leaflets but i’m not sure
if they will allow you to put them there - try anyway, all the charity shops and computer game shops
are worth a try….. i’ll try and think of some more!!

  4. I haven’t got an unlimited number, and i had to print them out of my own pocket, so i’d rather target places that are likly to have anime customers, or at least ones interested in japan or foreign things. HMV was a big win - i’ll have to keep dropping in and make sure they’re still happy with it.

We got a print run of 1000, of which we’ve used up a little under 500. I expect we’ll need to restock some of these places - not because 500 people have taken one, but because leaflets don’t last forever in the wild.

  5. I suggest holding a few back until a week and a half or so before the first event.

However that said, notice boards are likely to be better value for money.

  6. i say you should diffinatly put some in the library by the anime section in there, or at least put a
leaflet on the wall in there and some in area 51 if they will let you.

have you looked into how much it would cost to put an ad in the local paper?

  7. Thank God for Ottakers - just spotted one today. Is games workshop taking them?

Saw the planned line up - have got unsubbed copies of Riki OH (which goes well with the live action Story of Ricky)and Kitsuibito. Could also do some themes on transferring of animes to live action or straight from the manga. But hey, lets get some meetings happening first - will try to get to some if I’m in the area.

    Have fun
    Dave

  8. I just checked in Ottakar’s today. Out of the 100ish we gave them, they have a dozen left. I’m suddenly slightly afraid about how many people might be turning up….

But yes, i’ll take a pile in over the next few days to restock, and also to add it to as many other places as i can.

  9. did you put any in waterstones? they have a smallish manga section at the top of the stairs - some titles that ottakers don’t have

  10. Yes, I left a few in Waterstone’s, divided between the upstairs and downstairs tills. I don’t think many of them have been taken yet, but I’ll check again in a few days.
